Hats

Hats are an important part of sun protection.  When choosing a hat it is important to ensure that it will provide adequate protection to the head, face, ears, and neck.  A hat with at least an eight centimetre brim all round will provide minimal protection.  A better style of hat is one that incorporates a flap that protects the neck, ears and sides of the face, ie a legionnaire style hat.  The fabric must have a high UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor).
