Windows and window tints

Significant glassed areas create the potential for UVR exposure.  The amount of UVB radiated through plain window glass differs with glass type – most will transmit about 60 percent of the UVA.

Laminated glass, which consists of a tough plastic layer bonded between two panes of glass will typically have a UPF of 70 or higher.  This applies to laminated windscreens in cars as well as laminated house window glass.

Most window tints in cars provide good protection from UVR.  Some UVR protective tints for cars are clear.
